Jon and Holli Kercher, husband-and-wife owners of The Gumbo Shop and Fish Market, had to halt their Cajun and Creole cooking late last month. Doors closed at their restaurant, located at 9501 Manchester Road in Rock Hill, to make way for a CVS pharmacy location, as reported by the RFT’s Ian Froeb.
The kitchen might be cold, but the Kerchers, who assumed ownership of The Gumbo Shop in the summer of 2011, hope that won’t last for long. According to Jon Kercher, they are in midst of negotiating a contract on a different space. He declined to give the address. “Our goal is to reopen in two to four months,” he said.
