Need a new wine-sipping destination? Head west on I-70 to Unkorked Wine Garden, where the vino starts flowing early. Located at 205 E. Allen Street in downtown Wentzville, Unkorked offers free wine tastings and sells 12 wines by the glass and 40 by the bottle.
While Unkorked offers its fair share of local bottles, “the wines are from all over: California, Argentina, Chile, South Africa, Europe,” said Sheila Stewart, who owns the establishment along with her husband, Ron Stewart, and their son and daughter-in-law. Drinkers won’t go hungry either, as they can munch on the garden’s small plates menu that includes sandwiches, wraps, paninis, salads and shrimp cocktail, as well as sausage, cheese and fruit platters.
Sure, you can enjoy that glass of Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc inside but as the heat cools down—and, thankfully, the humidity—it’s a great time to relax outside on the patio, where Stewart said even the locals are proclaiming “I don’t feel like I’m sitting in Wentzville.”
The corks are popped at 11 a.m. and glasses will be filled until 10 p.m. Tuesday thru Thursday, 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 8 p.m. on Saturday. Drinkers and diners can also groove to live music on Friday and Saturdays (and coming soon on Sunday afternoons).
