A new culinary destination is coming to the heart of downtown St. Louis as Oliver Properties breaks ground today, Tuesday, Sept. 23, on the Washington Avenue Food Hall at 1120 Washington Ave. This dynamic space designed to reinvigorate one of the city’s most iconic corridors is slated to open in spring 2026.

Located just steps from the bustling pedestrian stretch of Washington Avenue, the Food Hall will feature a central bar, multiple food and drink vendors, and a state-of-the-art indoor/outdoor patio with a retractable roof. The project is a collaboration between Oliver Properties and FIRETEN Hospitality, a South Florida-based group known for its chef-driven concepts and elevated hospitality experiences.

“This project represents the next bold step in Washington Avenue’s renaissance,” said Alex Oliver, CEO of Oliver Properties. “Our vision has always been to create spaces where people want to gather, live, and invest. The Food Hall celebrates the best of St. Louis’ culinary creativity and creates an environment where neighbors and visitors alike can connect over food, drink, and shared experience.”

The space is being developed by Oliver Properties with construction led by Raineri Construction and design by Eimer Design. Food hall strategy is being shaped by Colicchio Consulting, a national team with a track record of launching successful food halls across the country.

FIRETEN Hospitality will manage day-to-day operations and curate the vendor lineup. “We are thrilled to partner with Oliver Properties to make this vision a reality,” said Jeremy Barker of FIRETEN. “The Washington Avenue Food Hall brings a new level of excitement to downtown, featuring a diverse lineup of food and drink vendors and an open-air patio with a retractable roof, giving guests the chance to experience the vibrant energy of Washington Avenue year-round.”

The space will include seating for 230 guests, with both indoor and outdoor options, and will serve as a community-centric gathering place intended to boost connectivity along Washington Avenue. The central bar will offer craft cocktails, beer and wine with views of the entire venue.

City leaders are welcoming the project as a much-needed boost for downtown revitalization. “Washington Avenue has always been one of the most iconic streets in our city — and seeing new energy, new investment, and new opportunities taking root here is exactly what St. Louis needs,” said Alderman Rasheen Aldridge. “The Washington Avenue Food Hall will not only bring new dining and entertainment options to the heart of downtown, it will create jobs, spark more investment, and show what’s possible when we believe in the future of our neighborhoods.”

Today’s groundbreaking adds to Oliver Properties’ ongoing commitment to downtown St. Louis. The company has invested more than $100 million into over 600 apartments, 150,000 square feet of commercial space, and various neighborhood activation efforts. Their local portfolio includes the redevelopment of landmark buildings such as SixCord and Vangard, and properties that are home to notable establishments like The Moniker, Sen Thai, Bella’s, Stanley’s and Rooster.

In addition to new food and drink offerings, Oliver Properties has also prioritized infrastructure and safety, including the creation of secured parking and critical streetscape improvements, reinforcing Washington Avenue as a vibrant and connected destination for residents and visitors alike.
