Soave (so-AH-vey), from the Veneto region of northeast Italy, could easily be mistaken for a classy white Burgundy. The cool climate does magical things for the flavors and acidity of its whites. When I tasted the 2014 Pieropan Soave Classico, I felt like I had reconnected with an old friend. With its lovely acidity, nutty aroma and great concentration of flavor and weight, this is near the pinnacle of Italian whites, for only $16.
