Alton Brown is bringing his latest live show to St. Louis this fall, with An Evening of Alton Brown set for 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, at The Touhill Performing Arts Center.
The new show promises a more intimate take on Brown’s long-running live culinary productions. While he’s keeping the specifics under wraps, Brown has teased a mix of familiar favorites alongside new demonstrations, music and what he describes as “slightly scaled-down mayhem.”
That format should feel familiar to anyone who has followed Brown’s career, but An Evening of Alton Brown is designed to put more emphasis on storytelling, spontaneity and audience connection. The show will blend food, science and humor, with Brown bringing the same offbeat approach that made Good Eats a staple of Food Network programming.
Brown began his career directing television commercials before attending culinary school and setting out to reinvent the cooking show with Good Eats. The series ran for more than two decades and established Brown as a distinctive voice in food television. He went on to host Iron Chef America, Food Network Star and Cutthroat Kitchen, while also building a successful live touring career.
Since 2013, Brown’s culinary variety shows have toured to more than 300 cities, playing for more than half a million people. He’s also the author of 10 books, including Food for Thought, a collection of essays and ruminations that became a New York Times best seller. More recently, he launched the YouTube series Alton Brown Cooks Food.
For the St. Louis stop, An Evening of Alton Brown will take over The Touhill, the University of Missouri-St. Louis’ performing arts center, which presents theater, dance, music and other live performances throughout the year.
Tickets are available via MetroTix or by calling 314-534-1111. More information about the tour is available at altonbrownlive.com.
