Sip your way through the Central West End during the neighborhood’s third annual Cocktail Party, a boozy bash featuring food and drinks from more than a dozen local establishments, as well as a cocktail competition and live entertainment.
About 5,000 people will fill Euclid Avenue between Maryland and McPherson avenues the evening of June 9 in celebration of what was reportedly the first cocktail party on record held in 1917 at the home of Mrs. Julius S. Walsh Jr. at 4510 Lindell Blvd.
Participating locations include Gamlin Whiskey House, Bar Louie, Drunken Fish, Pi Pizzeria, Mission Taco Joint, Dressel’s Public House, Mary Ann’s Tea Room, the Preston, Handcrafted by Bissinger’s and more.
“Each business will do a specialty cocktail – something fun and elaborate like different cups, mason jars or tins, depending on the cocktails,” said Kate Haher, executive director of the Central West End north community improvement district. “And, of course, there will be beer, wine and other call drinks.”
In addition to the spirited cocktail competition between neighborhood bartenders, enjoy live music from Miss Jubilee, Hazard to ya Booty, Grass Fed Mule and Jesse Gannon Truth. Other entertainment includes unicyclists, swing dancers, stilt walkers, body art, artist vendors and cotton candy art, as well as fire, swing and hula dancers.
“Come enjoy yourself in a fun celebration of history in a beautiful setting,” Haher said.
