4 Hands Brewing Co., located at 1220 S. Eighth St., announced today that it will expand its brewing operations beginning next month. According to a press release, the downtown brewery will add two 60-barrel tanks in October and another four in January 2014, enabling the nearly 2-year-old establishment to brew 13,000 barrels.
The additional space and brewing capabilities will aid 4 Hands as it extends its reach into other markets, including metro Illinois, Kansas City, Mo., Chicago and Philadelphia. The brewery also will change the bottle size for some of its beers in 2014, transitioning its core portfolio (Divided Sky Rye IPA, Reprise Centennial Red, Cast Iron Oatmeal Brown and Single Speed) from its original 22-ounce single bottles to 12-ounce four-packs. It will also offer the Pyrus Saison, Contact High and Chocolate Milk Stout in the 12-ounce four-packs; however, all other seasonal beers will continue to be offered in the 22-ounce format.
