With the start of the New Year and holiday indulgences behind us, it’s a great time to incorporate more plants into our diets. And while there are dozens of spots offering good salads around town, here are a few of our recent favorites.

Known for its sourdough program, Knead also whips up some seriously excellent salads, each of which comes with a slice of sourdough. The menu is ever-rotating and we’ve never had a bad salad here, so head to their online ordering system to decide which one you’d like to pick up. Pro tip: If you add protein to your salad, get extra dressing as well to ensure no leaf is left dry.

This revived concept has been a family fave ever since it reopened last year. The Suzie salad is our top choice as it feels a bit more “grain bowl” than your typical salad and features both cold and warm veggies and tons of flavor, but the chopped chicken salad is another good choice. Plus, with plenty of pizza and pasta options on the menu, it’s fun for the whole group, especially if not everyone is craving something “healthy.”

This one-of-a-kind (at least, in St. Louis) restaurant grows its own greens in an on-site hydroponic farm – doesn’t get fresher than that! Their many signature salads are all worth a try, but we really enjoyed some of the new grain bowls on a recent visit, particularly the Jamdown Bowl with Jamaican flair thanks to the jerk sauce used as dressing.

A longtime Sauce HQ favorite, this spot has some delicious salad options, along with grain bowls, wraps, green juice and more. We’re partial to the Grain-Go salad and the Kale Yeah juice, but the cauliflower tots are a crowd pleaser as well.
