St. Louis content creator Braden Tewolde, also known as @BradENSTL, joined us on a recent episode of The Sauce podcast to discuss what it takes to grow an online following in St. Louis and his approach to hosting food festivals in our city. Fresh off the heels of his second Foodies Eat First Fest, which took place the first weekend in May in downtown St. Louis, he shares with us some of his current favorite restaurants, a list that is constantly evolving, much like our own. And while we typically share a list of five spots, he couldn’t resist adding a few honorable mentions.
STL Toasted
“Their creative flavors continue to be some of the most creative dishes in St. Louis. Reimagining a classic is not easy but they somehow continue to create combinations that always keep things exciting.”
Nicky Slices Pizza Club
“The Trophy Room or pepperoni with hot honey is absolutely to die for. You’ll accidentally find yourself eating an entire pie in one sitting without even realizing it.”
Extra Wavy
“The scallop crudo was unlike anything I’ve ever had with the habanero garlic confit, orange zest and almond praline. And the braised beef short rib with the parsnip purée will genuinely make you want to lick the plate clean.”
Zoomies Pet Cafe + Boutique
“It may quietly be one of the most underrated coffee shops in the region. Their house-made syrups are always incredible, and you really can’t go wrong with a Lyle (snickerdoodle latte) anytime.”
Chico Bueno
“While they aren’t officially open yet, I tried their Al Pastor at Foodies Eat First Fest and it could very well be the best taco I’ve had in St. Louis. The meat is tender and packed with flavor.”
