The first Sauce Food Truck Friday of the summer takes place this Friday, May 17, in Tower Grove Park. The event, which will run from 4 to 8 p.m., will be the first of six monthly Food Truck Fridays which will conclude on Oct. 4 (the rain makeup date from the postponed April 26 date). To celebrate the start of the season, here’s a spotlight on five of the 20 trucks to check out this week.

Duchess Rose Royal Street Food
With a menu of decadent American-style comfort food, Duchess Rose Royal Street Food will have chicken sandwiches and Queen Gourmet Fries, which will include styles such as Buffalo and ranch, garlic-chicken, truffle-Parmesan and loaded bacon-cheese. For a vegetarian option, Duchess Rose will have a chickpea-lemon-dill sandwich which uses non-dairy mayo.

The MOObile
A from-scratch-style kitchen making burgers with pasture-raised beef, The MOObile will have menu items such as a double smash burger with pimento cheese and bacon, a standard double or triple smash burger, or a housemade black bean burger. A slider flight will also be available for purchase, and any burgers can be made “Oklahoma-style” by adding smoky honey mustard and grilled onions.

Sando Shack
Bringing made-to-order Japanese-style sandwiches this Friday, Sando Shack will have a limited but delicious menu, including both a regular or sweet and spicy chicken katsu sando, a pork tonkatsu sando, and a mushroom katsu sando as a vegetarian option. All sandos will be served with seasoned togarashi fries.

Super Smokers
A Eureka-based restaurant and smokehouse, Super Smokers will be able to satisfy any of your barbecue or Cajun cravings. For sandwiches, both brisket and pulled pork sandwiches will be available, along with a brisket grilled cheese and a burger with white cheddar, pickles and Comeback Sauce. Their signature jambalaya and voodoo nachos will be served, along with mac and cheese bowls topped with either brisket, pulled pork or Andouille sausage. Additionally, red beans and rice, “Zapp chips,” mac and cheese, and potato salad will all be offered as sides.

Seoul Taco
This Asian-fusion restaurant chain not only has many popular locations in the St. Louis area, but will be bringing their famous foods to Tower Grove Park as well. With four protein options of bulgogi steak, spicy pork, chicken and tofu, Seoul Taco will have quesadillas, tacos, burritos and “Gogi Bowls.” Additionally, one of their newer items – the corn elote quesadilla – will be served. Classic kimchi and kimchi slaw will both be served as sides, and both canned soda and bottled water will be offered as refreshments.

In addition to the food trucks, there will be plenty of beverages for sale, including frozen cocktails from Narwhal’s Crafted, a selection of beer from 4 Hands Brewing Co. and Urban Chestnut Brewing Co., along with wine and beer from Wild Sun Winery and Brewery, plus Jack Daniels liquor. Local artist Nick Gusman & The Coyotes will be performing live music throughout the event.
