Alton’s Mississippi riverfront will come alive Saturday, Aug. 23, when the annual Food Truck Festival returns to the Alton Amphitheater from 4 to 8 p.m. in Riverfront Park. The free community event is open to all ages and offers a relaxed, family-friendly way to cap off summer while enjoying a diverse lineup of local food trucks and live music against the scenic backdrop of the city’s waterfront.

“This event highlights the heart of the river town of Alton, gathering friends, families, and neighbors to enjoy a delicious experience right on our very own Mississippi Riverfront,” said Lyndsey Younger, director of parks and recreation in Alton. “Where great food meets great music, this free community event is the perfect recipe for a night out on the Mississippi River.”

This year’s soundtrack will be provided by Almost Famous, a high-energy five-piece cover band known for getting crowds on their feet. The group performs a wide-ranging setlist that includes hits from The Beatles, Journey, Queen, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and more. Whether you are a front-row dancer or a lawn-chair listener, their mix of classic and upbeat tracks is built to keep the crowd moving.

Attendees can sample flavors from over a dozen food trucks, including Cajun Seduction, Doughboys, Go Gyro Go, Tuk Tuk Thai, G Burrito, Jaise Grubb, Takozz, Jive Turkey, Solar Smoothie, The Sweet Side, Scoops N More, Mr. Noodle, The Spud Shack, Fire & Ice Cream and Pig on a Wing. Food will be available for purchase directly from the trucks, with beverage stations located throughout the venue.

“Whether you come for the food or come for the music, the Food Truck Festival is a slice of pure community joy,” Younger said.
