Florentin in the Delmar Maker District Credit: Meera Nagarajan

Missing Olio? You’re not alone. But we’re afraid you’re going to have to wait at least a little bit longer.

Last August, restaurateur Ben Poremba announced that three Bengelina Hospitality Group restaurants – Olio, Elaia and Nixta – would be leaving their longtime homes in Botanical Heights and relocating to the Delmar Maker District just east of Kingshighway Blvd. on Delmar Blvd. He initially estimated that reopening would take place in the first half of 2024. But the group announced on Instagram yesterday that Olio and Esca would be getting pushed back — now penciled in for early 2025.

But you won’t have to wait until next year to get your Olio fix. Bengelina has since opened two new concepts – Esca and Florentin – in the new development. And Florentin, at 5090 Delmar Blvd., has announced a series of Friday pop-ups throughout the rest of the year so that diners can scratch that nostalgic itch for previous and beloved Olio menu items.

The first event, a five-course pre-fixe dinner on July 26 with wine and beer available for purchase, has already sold out, but fans can get on the Resy waitlist and watch Olio’s social media for future pop-up announcements. Our advice: Prepare to act fast.
