Sure, there are plenty of dog-friendly patios around town – but it can be really hot out there, especially in August. Luckily, Le Meridien St. Louis Clayton at 7730 Bonhomme Ave. is hosting a series of indoor, dog-friendly “Yappy Hours” on the first three Tuesdays in August to celebrate National Dog Month. The final Tuesday of the month, Aug. 27, will feature an APA (Animal Protection Association) adoption event from 5 to 7 p.m.
The Yappy Hours will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. on Aug. 6, 13 and 20, offering dog parents a chance to treat their pups while getting to know like-minded fur-baby owners. Tickets are available online and cost $15 per dog, but their human companions can attend for free. Food and drinks are available for purchase from the hotel’s French restaurant Cafe La Vie. For the fur-babies, expect “barkuterie” boards and puppy mocktails. A portion of proceeds will benefit the APA of St. Louis.
Yappy Hour isn’t just about community and culinary offerings, however. The hotel also has some cute activities planned for your furry friends, including a “paint with your pup” activities in which dogs will create art by licking peanut butter off a bag – don’t ask questions, just go and find out for yourself how adorable it will be. There is a limit of seven dogs per event, so act quickly if you want to get in on the fun.
Additionally, the hotel will be hosting a Paws in the Pool Party on Sunday, Sept. 29, to close out the 2024 pool season. Dogs will be allowed to swim in the pool, and more information and tickets will be available soon.
