Flavor aficionados Ted Kilgore (pictured) and Joshua Galliano of Monarch Restaurant in Maplewood are offering an exclusive cocktail dinner on Wednesday – but don’t plan to sip and nibble at this five-course pairing affair. The occasion: World Cocktail Week. The hosts’ inspiration: New Orleans, home to The Museum of the American Cocktail. Based on gin, rye and rum, Kilgore’s complex concoctions are spiked with surprises such as elderflower cordial, egg whites and a flamed orange twist. Galliano will be serving hamachi crudo, caraway-glazed venison loin plus more, more, more. For additional information and to reserve a spot call 314.644.3995. And by all means make, well, a week of World Cocktail Week. From May 7 to 13, Monarch and its sister spot in the Central West End, Herbie’s Vintage 72, will be serving Prohibition-era cocktails. Here’s to 1933.
