100810_champagneA celebratory third anniversary weekend has come and gone at Robust Wine Bar in Webster Groves, but the cup still runneth over. Today, owner Stanley Browne, with help from Jayce McQuerter, wine director at Robust and one of this month’s Ones to Watch, is launching a champagne program to give patrons of the wine bar and retail shop the opportunity to sip some great sparkling stuff for bargain prices.

The bottles in the champagne program will run the gamut from “well-known brand names to small growers to cavas to Proseccos,” said Browne, who added that “anything that can be in the bubbles category will be in [the] program.”

Browne also promised low, low prices. “We are undercutting Sam’s and anyone else in town and [are] far below any bar or restaurant serving champagne or sparkling.” Cavas, for example, will start at $13. “I’m hardly making anything on it,” said Browne. So why do it? “I want people to drink more bubbles.”
