Olive + Oak opened in downtown Webster Groves on Sunday, Jan. 24 at 102 W. Lockwood Avenue.
The beverage program has cocktails ranging from light and bubbly to deep and boozy as well as 125 bottles of wine including 20 by the glass and eight local beers on tap with more than two dozen local and national bottled options.
Starters include the Hand Cut Steak Tartare with dollops of slow-cooked egg yolks and crusty grilled bread.
The house-made gnocchi is served with savory lamb ragu and tangy Baetje Farms goat cheese.
The Prime Aged Strip is served on a slice of grilled potato bread with a fonduta, mushroom conserva and sautéed spinach.
Bright and clean, the California citrus bowl is a gluten free, dairy free dessert topped with pistachios, mint and orange bitters syrup.
The Milk and Honey dessert will feature a rotating selection that in this case was compressed golden delicious apples, Ludwig Farmstead Creamery’s Kickapoo cheese, toasted walnuts and a cracked pepper, honey-cider glaze.
Executive chef Jesse Mendica also hails from Annie Gunn’s where she served as executive sous chef for eight years.
– The 90 seat restaurant is co-owned by Annie Gunn’s alum Mark Hinkle and Greg Ortyl.
