Hyatt Centric Downtown St. Louis is now open at 1501 Washington Ave., bringing a new restaurant, bar and seasonal rooftop gathering spot to a historic building that once served as the headquarters of one of the city’s major shoe manufacturers.
The 11-story building was constructed in 1910 for Roberts, Johnson & Rand Shoe Company, a key player in St. Louis’ early 20th-century footwear industry. Its ornate façade and Sullivanesque architecture reflect the era when Washington Avenue was a center of the city’s garment and shoe businesses. Most recently, it was The Last Hotel. Now, the building houses the first Hyatt Centric hotel in Missouri, with 142 guest rooms and several food and drink options.

The main dining destination is The Link, a lobby restaurant and bar serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu focuses on locally sourced New American fare, with St. Louis staples including toasted ravioli and The Hill Classic pizza. A wood-burning pizza oven and wood-fired grill anchor the kitchen, adding another dimension to the restaurant’s menu.
The Link takes its name from Theodore C. Link, the St. Louis architect associated with the historic building who is best known for designing St. Louis Union Station. The restaurant is designed to welcome hotel guests and locals alike, with a menu that draws on regional favorites while offering a broader range of contemporary dishes.
The hotel also features the Lobby Bar for drinks and provisions, a 24-hour grab-and-go market stocked with sandwiches, salads and other essentials.
Expedition, a seasonal rooftop bar and pool, offers another place to eat and drink, with a full bar, creative cocktails and shareable dishes alongside views of downtown St. Louis. The venue is scheduled to operate during the spring and summer, serving lunch and dinner throughout the week.
Together, the food and beverage offerings give the hotel several options for guests looking to stay on-site for a meal or cocktail, whether they’re starting the day with breakfast, meeting for drinks in the lobby or heading upstairs for an evening on the rooftop.
Beyond dining, Hyatt Centric Downtown St. Louis offers a 24-hour fitness center, pet-friendly accommodations and approximately 11,750 square feet of meeting and event space, including a ballroom that can accommodate more than 200 guests. The hotel is also within reach of downtown destinations including the Gateway Arch, Busch Stadium, City Museum and America’s Center Convention Complex.
Hyatt Centric is a boutique hotel brand focused on placing travelers near the dining, entertainment and cultural attractions of its destinations. The downtown St. Louis property brings that approach to a historic Washington Avenue address while giving the former shoe company headquarters a new role in the city’s hospitality industry.
