Korean fried chicken chain bb.q Chicken is preparing to bring its signature crunch and lineup of Korean-inspired flavors to Chesterfield, with a new restaurant expected to open in late October or early November at 1627 Clarkson Road.

Founded in South Korea in 1995, bb.q Chicken has expanded internationally while maintaining a menu centered on Korean fried chicken, sauces and traditional Korean favorites. The Chesterfield restaurant will be the brand’s latest addition to its growing Missouri presence, with another location planned for the Kansas City area.

“We also saw an opportunity to bring authentic Korean fried chicken to an area where there is growing interest in Korean food and culture,” said Alicia Jang of bb.q Chicken. She added that Chesterfield’s mix of families, professionals and diners eager to explore new flavors made it a natural fit for the brand.

The menu will feature signature flavors including Golden Original, Honey Garlic, Secret Sauce and Spicy Galbi. Golden Original highlights the chicken’s crispy exterior and juicy interior without a sauce, while Honey Garlic offers a sweet-and-savory combination. Secret Sauce brings a sweet-and-tangy profile, and Spicy Galbi pairs Korean barbecue-inspired flavor with a kick of heat.

Jang said the brand’s frying process is key to achieving its signature texture, balancing a light, crispy coating with tender meat. The chicken’s variety of sauces and seasonings gives diners the chance to customize their experience, whether they prefer a classic preparation or something sweeter or spicier.

There’s more to the menu than chicken too. Korean favorites such as Ddeok Bokki, a spicy rice cake dish, Kimchi Fried Rice and So Ddeok So Ddeok, a skewer featuring rice cakes and sausage, will offer diners more ways to explore Korean flavors. Jang recommends ordering a mix of chicken flavors and sides to share, particularly for first-time guests.

For newcomers, she suggests starting with Golden Original to appreciate the chicken itself, then adding Honey Garlic or Secret Sauce alongside Ddeok Bokki and So Ddeok So Ddeok. The combination offers an introduction to the range of textures and flavors that define the menu.

The Chesterfield restaurant will have a casual, welcoming atmosphere designed for everything from quick meals to gatherings with family and friends. Sharing is part of the appeal, Jang said, and the goal is to establish the restaurant as a neighborhood destination.

“We are most excited for guests to experience that first bite, the crunch of freshly prepared Korean fried chicken followed by the flavor of whichever sauce they choose,” she said.

As the brand expands across Missouri, Jang said it hopes to introduce more diners to Korean fried chicken while becoming part of the communities it serves.
