When your life is lacking that extra pop, it’s time to take yourself on a date to India Rasoi in the Central West End for a Meatless Monday that your senses will not forget. From the vibrant yellow and red décor to a vast menu filled with vegetarian and vegan items boasting a modern twist, I always leave this Indian eatery feeling both satisfied and inspired.

When it comes to savory, share the Vegetable Biryani with the table. Saffron and cumin dominate this dish with a full spectrum of veggies scattered throughout the Basmati rice, including crunchy onions, spicy peppers, soft peas and crispy carrots. Presented with a side of refreshing raita complete with shredded cucumbers and carrots, the slight spice from the Basmati is easily cooled by the creamy sauce.

It’s imperative to share the biryani with the table, so you won’t feel guilty when you hog the Makhani Dal all for yourself. These soft lentils have been stewed low and slow to a buttery consistency. Mild in heat, this rich dish packs a tasty and satisfying bite. I recommend scooping a bit of rice onto your plate and then adding a dollop of the smooth lentils on top. Wait a few seconds until the warm aroma hits your nose, and when you can’t wait any longer, take a bite of that once crunchy and now soft Basmati that has sopped up all of the luscious curry.
