080210_pamsSauce readers may remember our review of Pam’s Chicago-Style Dogs & More in The Loop a couple of years ago, in which reviewer Bill Burge waxed rhapsodic about the diner’s Deep Fried Raspberry Zinger.

Now Pam’s co-owner, Dan Revell, is diving even further into the terrifying realm of fried festival food by adding Balls of Glory, deep-fried hunks of warm chocolate-chip cookie dough, to the menu. He’s also added the Cardiac Blast, a Chocolate Zinger wrapped in a steamed tortilla with sliced strawberries, battered, fried and finished with cherry sauce and powdered sugar; and the Extreme Twinkie, a fried Twinkie anointed with caramel sauce and strawberries.

The additions join other deep-fried desserts available at Pam’s including muffins, Oreos, Snickers, Hostess CupCakes and Ding Dongs and the famous Raspberry Zinger.

As far as Revell knows, Pam’s is also now the only joint in town serving an authentic Philly cheese steak made with Cheez Whiz, another menu addition.

If Homer Simpson walked the earth, surely Pam’s would be his favorite restaurant.
