A famed East Coast chef will soon set up shop in Grand Center. New York-based ESquared Hospitality announced in a statement today, Feb. 28, that it has partnered with chef David Burke to open Grand Tavern by David Burke in the upcoming Angad Arts Hotel in Grand Center this fall.

St. Louis-based Lawrence Group is currently developing the Angad Arts Hotel at 634 N. Grand Blvd. Burke and ESquared are also partners in Tavern62 by David Burke in NYC and BLT Prime by David Burke in Washington D.C., NYC and Miami.

According to the statement, Grand Tavern will feature a menu of small plates in the bar and lounge area and larger plates in the main dining room. The cuisine will “showcase Chef Burke’s contemporary takes on classic American dishes,” the release stated. Burke and ESquared will also provide food and beverage service for the entire hotel.

Burke has had a storied culinary career. A Culinary Institute of America graduate, he was awarded the Meilleurs Ouvriers de France Diplome d’Honneur while working in France, competed on Bravo’s “Top Chef Masters” and was inducted into the James Beard Foundation’s “Who’s Who of Food & Beverage in America” in 2009. In 2011, he was awarded a United States patent for his process of dry-aging steaks with pink Himalayan sea salt.

There’s no word yet if a local chef will helm the kitchen once Grand Tavern opens. Lawerence Group referred all inquires to ESquared.
