If you’ve had a Sugarwitch ice cream sandwich, you already know why we’re absolutely obsessed. The inventive, from-scratch frozen treats have earned a devoted following around St. Louis, and we’re rooting for this proudly queer-owned, neighborhood-focused team as it continues to grow. Now, fans will have one more day a week to get their fix.

Sugarwitch will add Wednesday hours at its brick-and-mortar shop in the Patch/Carondelet neighborhood starting Oct. 7, giving customers more time to grab one of its small-batch ice cream sandwiches, house-made pastries, candy bars or a specialty drink and hang out on the patio as St. Louis finally heads toward cooler weather.

Beginning Oct. 7, Sugarwitch will be open from 3-10 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. The additional hours come after customers asked for more opportunities to visit the shop, which operates out of the historic Carondelet Bakery.

“Summer has been unrelenting this year,” said co-owner Sophie Moss. “But patio weather is finally in sight! People have been asking us for more hours, and adding Wednesdays seemed like the obvious choice to make sure we get to enjoy this beautiful season together alongside some of our favorite flavors of the year.”

Those fall flavors include local pawpaw ice cream with warm spices, a pumpkin-caramel-black cocoa combination and an apple cider donut sundae. It’s a seasonal lineup that lets Sugarwitch lean into fall without giving up the frozen treats that made it a local favorite in the first place.

Sugarwitch also has plenty happening beyond ice cream. The shop will celebrate its fourth year at the old Carondelet Bakery with its annual Birthday-ween party and maker’s market on Oct. 31. Seasonal beignet pop-up Cursed Beignets is also set to return Saturday mornings beginning in November.

And Moss hinted at another addition for the colder months: a possible vegan pastry pop-up on Sunday mornings. Sugarwitch has developed a particularly strong vegan following, and the new Sunday hours could provide a home for a winter pastry collaboration.

Along with its ice cream sandwiches and frozen treats, Sugarwitch serves a full specialty beverage program featuring Coffeestamp beans and Big Heart tea, plus housemade pastries and candy bars. The company makes its treats in small batches and from scratch, with its bakery space serving as both production kitchen and neighborhood gathering spot.
