Take Root Hospitality concept Taqueria Morita, a Sauce Best New Restaurant of 2022, has announced it will soon close its doors. The restaurant began as a pop-up on the patio at Vicia in summer 2022 and moved to Winslow’s Table later that year for the colder months. Its own brick-and-mortar opened in the Cortex Innovation District right by Vicia in spring 2024, but the restaurant didn’t make it a full year in that space. The following statement was issued on social media:

“It’s with sad news that we share that this Saturday will be our final day of service at Taqueria Morita,” the post stated. “We are so proud of the delicious food and libations we’ve crafted this year at our brick and location. We put a lot of heart and soul into creating this place. Thank you to those that made Morita part of your year. We appreciate your support and hope you’ll keep @takeroothospitality and our other concepts top of mind when you dine out.”

“We will be open this Friday and Saturday 1/3 & 1/4 from 4-8pm and would love to see you,” the post continued. “Come eat all our tacos and drink all the tequila. Savor our fish tacos one last time. We’ll miss you and would love your help in giving Morita a proper send off.”
