{The burger at Home Wine Kitchen}
Chris DiMercurio is donning his chef whites in a new kitchen. Home Wine Kitchen chef-owner Cassy Vires confirmed that DiMercurio, who has worked stints at Niche, Vino Nadoz, Element and, most recently, Ben Poremba’s Old Standard, began as Home Wine Kitchen’s sous chef in mid-November. Vires noted that while DiMercurio approached her about a possible position with the restaurant, she had wanted to work with him for some time.
“I’ve known Chris a long time,” Vires said. “He’s a really talented guy, and I first saw that when he was over at Vino Nadoz. I’d been trying to bring him over to the dark side at Home Wine Kitchen for a while. The timing was right for both of us.”
She credited DiMercurio with Home Wine Kitchen’s recently launched winter lunch menu, which has added a chimichurri hanger steak sandwich, butternut squash risotto with a poached egg and black pepper gnocchi.
DiMercurio did not return calls for comment.
