Michael Jaber is getting closer to opening Central Café, a Mediterranean bakery and restaurant that is slated to open June 15 in the Terrace Building on Euclid Avenue next to Golden Grocer. Open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Central Café will provide CWE regulars with a morning stop for croissants and European pastries, baklava and other freshly baked goods, along with Turkish coffee, tea and fresh-squeezed juices.
As the summer heats up, we’d expect to see a crowd on the outdoor patio dining on Greek and Middle Eastern specialties like shawarma (a pita sandwich filled with shaved meat such as lamb, beef or chicken), meat and cheese pies, baba ganoush, dolmades, falafel, tabbouli or hummus with homemade pita – and perhaps even patronizing the hookah bar.
