Falafelwich, the food truck — er, food wagon — that began serving up falafel sandwiches only last Tuesday, is already adding to its fleet, according to owner and CEO Gary Tripp. Last Friday, after the crowds had dispersed from Sauce’s first ever Food Truck Friday at Tower Grove Park, Tripp told The Scoop that he would be adding another set of wheels to the operation and that they would roll on St. Louis streets in mid-July. A Falafelwich Wagon will also be working the streets of Columbia, Mo., by mid-July.
“It’s a pretty aggressive expansion,” said Tripp, explaining that the soon-to-come wagon No. 2 will focus on breakfast and dinner, while the original truck will handle the lunch crowd. The morning menu is still in the development stages, but expect everything to be under $5. The dinner menu will be an expanded version of the current lunch menu, which features a handful of fresh takes on falafel sandwiches. (This week marks the debut of the non-falafel ‘wich: freshly sliced lamb and beef with Kalamata olives, jasmine rice and roasted red peppers, all stuffed inside naan flatbread then topped with a choice of sriracha, tahini or tzatziki sauce.) Falafelwich also offers twice-baked naan chips sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar, sea salt, or garlic and Parmesean cheese, and thirst-quenchers like watermelon-basil lemonade.
The Falafelwich Wagon schedule is posted on its website, as well as on Twitter (@Falafelwich) and on Facebook.
