Come 2014, there will be a whole lot more swirling, sniffing and sipping in St. Louis when the Mid-American School of Wine opens in January. Classes will include one-day courses for the casual wine enthusiast, as well as industry sessions to help experts prepare for certification programs like Wine and Spirit Education Trust and Certified Specialist of Wine.

Jeff Callahan, Aaron Mandel, Craig Adams and Denise Mueller are experienced local wine authorities who co-founded the school to further expand and educate the wine culture in St. Louis. “This is a project I’ve always wanted to do in my spare time,” Mueller said, adding that she hopes the school will provide a starting block for aspiring wine professionals seeking advanced education.

The founders will teach the classes, which will take place at various Robust Wine Bar locations. Mueller said prices and class schedules will be announced online in January when the Mid-American School of Wine website goes live. Until then, more information can be found on the organization’s Facebook page.
