091911_BaileysRangeFollowers of David Bailey’s trio of restaurants – Baileys’ Chocolate Bar, Rooster and Bridge – have been eagerly awaiting the opening of his newest restaurant, Baileys’ Range, since it was first announced in late winter that Bailey had secured the space at 920 Olive St., for the eatery. The wait should end on October 7.

In renovating the two-story space for the burger and shake restaurant, Bailey has added a wooden bar and a long, communal, high-top table, both of which run the length of the first-floor dining area. Other focal points include re-claimed milk pails used as lighting fixtures and old glass windows in wood frames that separate the dining area from the kitchen and provide customers with a glimpse of the burgers, fries and other fare that will be prepared in the back of the house. Positioned near the entrance is an ice cream counter that may easily become the quick stop for frozen-treat-lovers in search of real house-made ice creams and sorbets.

Another widely anticipated restaurant opening is Mosaic Modern Fusion, a project by chef and restaurateur Claus Schmitz. This sister restaurant to Schmitz’s other Mosaic Modern Fusion downtown is scheduled to open on September 29. The new Mosaic Modern Fusion is located on the site of a former Schnucks grocery store at 11919 Manchester Road in Des Peres. (Check back here later this week for details on the menu.)
