Joanne “JoJo” Davis has been cooking up a storm lately. Davis and her husband, Max, are proprietors of Shrimp Shack Grill, located at 8624 Natural Bridge Road; and JoJo’s House of Ribs, which the couple opened a month ago at 182 East Grand Blvd., just off Interstate 70. Now, Davis has her eyes set on opening a JoJo’s House of Ribs in downtown St. Louis. Company spokesperson Latonya Spencer told The Scoop that she expects the lease for the space to be signed in the coming weeks. She also noted that the downtown location would be open 24 hours a day.
In addition to operating multiple restaurants, Davis is the creator of a line of seasonings called JoJo Miracle Seasoning – which, as you’d expect, is used to flavor many of the menu items served at her eateries. Shrimp Shack Grill also recently received national accolades, taking second place in the 2011 Steve Harvey Hoodie Awards in the Best Fried Chicken category.
