Locally owned pizza chain Pi Pizzeria is headed downtown. News came today that the newest Pi will be located in the Mercantile Exchange (MX) Building, formerly known as St. Louis Centre, on Washington Avenue. Pi currently operates four brick-and-mortar locations as well as a food truck in St. Louis, and recently expanded into the Washington, D.C. market with another food truck and a soon-to-open pizzeria.
The downtown Pi will take up some 4,000 square feet and feature a large patio. Pi is the first restaurant to be announced as a tenant for the MX Building, which, along with the neighboring Laurel Building (formerly Dillard’s), is undergoing major renovations as part of a project led by Spinnaker St. Louis and Spinnaker Real Estate Partners to develop the area into a full-service retail, dining, entertainment, arts and culture and residential district along Washington Avenue. Look for Pi, as well as other restaurant, shopping and entertainment venues to open in the MX Building in the first quarter of 2012.
