051414_quesazon The ever-growing roster of area food trucks has added another mobile restaurant to its ranks. Que Sazon, which will specialize in South American cuisine, is set to roll downtown June 1. Husband and wife co-owners Fabian and Julie Ocampo have just obtained the necessary permits and are putting a bull-headed wrap on the truck.

“My husband has been talking about wanting to open a restaurant for a long time,” said Julie Ocampo, who said the couple almost opened a brick-and-mortar in 2008 before holding off due to the economy. Six years later, Ocampo said the growing food truck industry appealed to them. “Something like that would be an excellent way to get your name out there,” she said. “There’s nothing like the food that we’re going to have.”

The menu draws on Fabian Ocampo’s Colombian roots and his time cooking at his family’s restaurant. Patrons can choose from several types of empanadas stuffed with different meats, potatoes and vegetables, arepas  (“Think of an open-faced taco,” Ocampo said.) and more. Beverage options will include guava and passion fruit juices, as well as sodas hailing from Colombia, Peru, Brazil and Mexico.
