After months of leasing space at Black Bear Bakery, the owners of Red Fox Baking finally have a home to call their own. The faces behind Red Fox Baking – Jake Marks, Chris Scheets and Jenny Wilson – have relocated their operation to 3101 Arsenal Ave., putting a brick oven (pictured) fashioned by their own hands to work.

The bakeshop offers a variety of naturally leavened hearth breads, as well as sweet and savory pastries like tarts, galettes, croissants, turnovers and cookies. Its from-scratch baked goods currently are available only at the Webster Groves and Clayton farmers markets. However, when Grove East Provisions grocery store opens in the same building as Red Fox, the bakery’s products will sit on its shelves, according to Marks, whose baking experience includes working at Black Bear and baking bread at Farmhaus a few years ago. His partners have both “worked at restaurants and baked at home,” he said.

Red Fox Baking also offers a weekly bread subscription program. In this fledging program, subscribers can select from a rotation of two or three different types of loaves, each priced around $5, available for pick-up at the bakeshop. Subscriptions can be placed by contacting the bakery via its Facebook page.
