The cafe and boutique Rue Lafayette, located at 2026 Lafayette Ave., has closed. As reported by Byron Kerman in St. Louis Magazine, owner Araceli Kopiloff announced her reasons for shuttering the cafe on the cafe’s facebook page. Kerman quoted her post as:

“Here is the E True Hollywood story: due to divorce Rue had to close (not my choice) there is a chance it may go on with new management. If it does, stand behind it 110%. Great people. They will keep the name and format. They love the bands and Bella and I will be involved in some level. But…if they don’t, Rue will be closed forever. As for me, this wasn’t my last weekend and it will be closed until we find out if this new deal will be made. I hope it is because I put all of my heart into it. Keep your fingers crossed.”

This post has since been removed, but after it was taken down, Kopiloff shared the link to Kerman’s article via her page. Calls to Rue Lafayette have gone unanswered. The cafe, which opened three years ago, was known for its croissants, hot chocolate and Kopiloff’s dressed-to-the-nines Boston terrier Bella. As for the future of the cafe? More news as we learn it.
