{Soulard’s new patio}
With warm weather finally here, we’re on the lookout for more alfresco dining and drinking options. Soulard is catching our eye, as two venues in the neighborhood prepare for patio season.
If an Anheuser-Busch brewery tour is a mainstay on your to-do list when out-of-towners come to visit, there will be a new attraction this summer when you visit the brewery at 12th and Lynch Streets. Groundbreaking on a new Biergarten at the popular tourist destination takes place this afternoon. The outdoor drinking area is expected to open by mid-summer.
The Biergarten is being designed to give guests an enhanced beer and food experience. Look for a variety of Anheuser-Busch beers, including 17 on draft. The facility will also feature beer tastings, including a Brewmaster’s Tasting every day at 3 p.m. – the same time Anheuser-Busch brewmasters from around the country taste beer each day to make sure it is of the highest quality and consistency. Guests can also learn about beer styles, appropriate glassware for serving beer, and food best paired with beer. The Biergarten will serve food, and while the initial offerings will be limited, a full menu featuring grilled meats, small sandwiches and other light fare is expected later this year.
Those who don’t want to wait until mid-summer for a new outdoor drinking option can head to Soulard’s. Owner Tim Badock has been busy over the last few weeks turning the space (pictured) tucked behind the building at 1731 7th St., into a veritable garden paradise. Patrons can spend hours on the patio surrounded by lush greenery, a water fountain and even a vibrant, botanical-inspired mural painted on the brick wall. Summer vacation may be a few weeks away, but Soulard’s can help you get into relax-mode right now.
