Tomo, a new Japanese steakhouse, is slated to open this fall in St. Peters. The restaurant, which will open at 6101 Mid Rivers Mall Drive in the space formerly occupied by dueling piano bar Jive and Wail, will serve hibachi-style Japanese steak and seafood as well as sushi and other traditional Japanese fare, according to owner Simon Kim. The name, explained Kim, comes from the Japanese word for “friend.”
Kim expects construction at the 150-seat Tomo to begin later this month and projects a target opening of late September. He also owns Kobe Japanese Steak House and Sushi Bar in Columbia, Mo., another hibachi-style eatery which apparently isn’t part of the national Kobé chain that touts a similar concept.
You can’t befriend Tomo on Facebook just yet, but Kim insists that a website is coming soon.
