Popular Midtown eatery and performance venue Hamburger Mary’s, located at 3037 Olive St., closed up shop after service Aug. 30. Citing bank foreclosure on the building, the restaurant’s ownership broke the news on its Facebook page earlier that day.

“We have enjoyed serving you for the past few years, and will definitely be looking for a new venue,” the post read. “It is unfortunate that our landlord lost the building in foreclosure, and the bank is now forcing us out in order to sell the building.”

The owners could not be reached for comment. A considerable outpouring of support ensued underneath the social media announcement, lamenting the closure of the popular national hamburger chain recognized for its support of the LGBT community. The St. Louis franchise opened doors in January 2012.
