Residents of the central corridor who enjoy visiting The Block in Webster Groves have eagerly anticipated the restaurant and butcher shop’s expansion into the Central West End. The wait is now over, as co-owners Brian and Lea Doherty and Marc and Amy Del Pietro have opened doors at The Block’s second home at 33 N. Sarah St., in Terrene’s former location.

The Central West End location offers a mix of old and new for those already familiar with The Block. According to a press release, “Many of the features that have contributed to The Block’s success, locally sourced produce, grass-fed beef, and fresh on-site butchering, will remain.” The press release also mentioned, “In addition, there are new menu items such as the Pork & Pappardelle (braised pork, house-made pappardelle, roasted fennel, orange zest), Wood Fired Mussels (house-made sausage, Civil Life Milk Stout broth, local herbs), and a daily pasta special.” Beverages include bottled and draft beer from multiple St. Louis breweries, seasonal craft cocktails and a wine list curated by co-owner Lea Doherty, who, according to the release, has previously been honored by Wine Spectator.

The restaurant is open Monday through Thursday from 5 to 10 p.m., and on Friday and Saturday from 5 to 11 p.m. Sunday hours and lunch hours will be added in the near future.  A complete menu is available on The Block’s website, while its Facebook page offers up-to-date information about daily specials.
