Husband and wife team Sid and Krupa Panchal are hoping to bring the cuisine of their native India to the streets of St. Louis with the launch of their food truck Bombay Food Junkies. The Panchals were born and raised in Bombay (Mumbai), and moved to the U.S., in the early 2000s. “Bombay is famous for its street food,” said Krupa Panchal. “We want to give people the experience – and taste – that we have lived.”

The Bombay Food Truck menu will be entirely Indian vegetarian, with dishes ranging from samosas to crepe-like dosas; and puri to pancake-y uttapams. The Panchals hope to hit the streets by the first week of April. They plan to operate initially in St. Louis county, adding St. Louis city and St. Charles to the circuit later.

One of the remaining tasks, however, is getting the truck wrapped. To fund that project, the couple launched a Kickstarter campaign yesterday. They hope to raise $5,000 within the three-week fundraising period.
