The space at 15 N. Central Ave., in Clayton is no longer Tucci & Fresta’s. The trattoria and bar that owners Kim Tucci and Joe Fresta opened last September has been converted to another Pasta House Co., the casual Italian restaurant chain that Tucci and Fresta also operate. Matthew Hibbard of the St. Louis Business Journal broke the story last Friday.
Tucci and Fresta purchased the restaurant from Portabella owner Angela Del Pietro in June of last year, with hopes of enticing Clayton diners with upscale Italian fare. However, as reported by St. Louis Magazine’s George Mahe, the restaurant suffered from a lack of business, despite lowering its prices.
The newest Pasta House Co. location offers the same selections available at the chain’s other locations. Mahe noted that the Clayton outpost will also retain a few of the specials previously offered at Tucci & Fresta’s. The restaurant is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., and for brunch on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
