It was last October when Verlin Gibson opened a bar and grill at 1730 S. Eighth St., in Soulard. However, two weeks ago he closed the restaurant that bore his name and relocated Verlin’s to 1449 Vandeventer Ave. “I like this spot better; the building is much nicer,” explained Gibson of his decision to move the business to The Grove neighborhood.
The food and drink menu remain the same at the new location of Verlin’s, which is already open for business. (Have you tried the trash wings – deep-fried chicken wings, dunked in hot sauce and then given another dip in the fryer?) As far as entertainment goes, a DJ spins at Verlin’s regularly and, according to Gibson, karaoke will soon be offered as well. Verlin’s is open from 11 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
