It’s summer’s last stand, so make sure you get out and enjoy all our city has to offer while the weather is still nice. Downtown Summer Nights have been taking over Kiener Plaza from 5 to 8 p.m. every Thursday all summer featuring food and drink vendors, plus another element unique to each event such as a market, movie or music, and there are only a few left this year.
“Downtown Summer Nights is the perfect way to celebrate summer in St. Louis, and Kiener Plaza is the perfect place,” Kurt Weigle, Chief Downtown Officer for Greater St. Louis, Inc., said in a release. “What is better than having a drink with friends or colleagues under the shadow of the iconic Gateway Arch?”
On Aug. 22, head down for a movie night featuring a showing of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off beginning at 7 p.m. Just be sure to bring your own seating. There will also be a happy hour and vendor market with music by Staz. The grand finale on Aug. 29 features a live music extravaganza with performances by Mvstermind, Playadors, Kelsi O and DJ Cuddy.
“Thousands of people have already come out for Downtown Summer Nights, which bring the best people, food, and entertainment to the heart of the metro – downtown St. Louis. The outdoor movie nights we’ve already held have captivated the community, and we’re thrilled to celebrate going to back to school in style with this week’s showing of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. It’s a classic movie, in a classic setting in the shadow of the Gateway Arch,” Weigle told Sauce.
Greater St. Louis, Inc., has been making an effort “increase vibrancy, boost local businesses, and encourage foot traffic in Downtown St. Louis,” according to the release, and Downtown Summer Nights is just one of the ways these efforts have been accelerated. You can also go to Lunchtime Live from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. every Wednesday through October to enjoy food trucks and live music at the Old Post Office Plaza.
