• Combine the water, sugar, lemon, cinnamon and cloves in a saucepan.

• After the sugar dissolves, add the wine. Simmer the mixture for 20 minutes, strain and serve.

1½ cups boiling water
½ cup sugar
½ lemon slice
3 cinnamon sticks
3 whole cloves
1 large bottle of burgundy (or other red wine)
