Pour Absente into a rocks glass and roll the liquor around the glass to coat all sides, then dump out the remaining liquor.
Combine the whiskey, simple syrup and bitters in a mixing glass with ice and shake for 20 seconds.
Strain the drink into the rocks glass and garnish with the lemon twist.
