If discovering restaurants and making new friends are on your list of resolutions this year, you can accomplish both goals simultaneously now that Mystery Meet is coming to St. Louis. Mystery Meet organizes blind dinner outings in cities such as San Francisco and Seattle and will be adding St. Louis to the circuit come spring.

Seth Resler, who started Mystery Meet in Boston in 2010, likened a Mystery Meet dinner to “a flash mob at a restaurant.” That is, individuals sign up on the organization’s website. When an upcoming dinner is planned, members receive an invitation to attend and purchase a ticket online. In the days leading up to the dinner, attendees are provided with clues about the restaurant – such as information regarding the restaurant’s chef, the cuisine offered and the neighborhood where the restaurant is located – but the destination remains a mystery until 24 hours prior to the event. Group sizes are limited to 20 people. The average ticket price runs between $35 and $45, which includes the meal as well as taxes and gratuity. Diners must purchase drinks separately.

More information about Mystery Meet is available on the organization’s website. Those interested in participating in the first Mystery Meet dinner in St. Louis, scheduled for April 9, can sign-up here to receive an invitation.
