The next Food Truck Friday is still a few weeks away, but you can get your fix for new mobile cuisine this weekend. Four mobile eateries – all participants in the Food Network show “The Great Food Truck Race” – are rolling into St. Louis this Saturday and Sunday, May 24 and 25, as part of the competition. Since reports earlier today from Nancy Stiles of the Riverfront Times and George Mahe of St. Louis Magazine, The Scoop has learned where two of the four trucks will be parked around town.
The Middle Feast will be at 4 Hands Brewing Co. Saturday, according to Hila, one of the three owners of the truck (Contestants of the show are not allowed to disclose their last names.). The Middle Feast, which specializes in tacos with a Middle Eastern twist, will be joined by local food truck Seoul Taco. In additions, 4 Hands will tap a cask of its Contact High. Windows will open at noon. Also at noon on May 24, Lone Star Chuckwagon will put it in park at Heavy Riff Brewing Co. in Dogtown. That truck specializes in barbecue and Tex-Mex.
The other two trucks still in competition, Let There Be Bacon and Beach Cruiser, have yet to settle on a location for Saturday. Beach Cruiser is known for its fish tacos with fried avocados, according to truck co-owner Gretta. “It’s Cali-fresh cuisine – food that doesn’t leave you wanting to take a nap afterward.”
Cleveland, Ohio-based Let There Be Bacon dishes up all things bacon. “Everything is better with bacon. We’re just trying to prove it,” said co-owner Matt.
The trucks will also dish out their food here on Sunday, though locations have not yet been announced. For up-to-the-moment news on their whereabouts, watch their Twitter feeds.
