Wasabi will open a new location tomorrow in the Central West End
Wasabi Sushi Bar is opening its seventh location this Thursday, Dec. 17, located at 4239 Duncan Ave. in the Central West End.
The new location in partnership with Midas Hospitality is part of the Cortex tech district and sits next to the Aloft Hotel owned by Midas, a hotel development, management and investment firm. Wasabi CEO John Kim is excited for the new spot and sees great potential in the partnership.
“It just made perfect sense,” Kim said. “We have a common denominator with looking at the same type of customer base, [and] we’re both in hospitality. We have a synergistic approach to business.”
Wasabi’s expansive menu will be the same as the six other locations with a large assortment of sushi rolls, sashimi, nagiri, bento boxes and more, though the interior design will offer a more modern look. The new location will be one of Wasabi’s largest at nearly 4,300 square feet.
As of now, only carryout, curbside pickup and catering will be offered until the St. Louis County pandemic restrictions on indoor dining are lifted, despite being located in the city, where indoor dining is still allowed. “We’re just being consistent with the rest of the Wasabi locations [in St. Louis County],” he explained.
Kim said he is eager to showcase this new location and is hopeful that the indoor dining bans will be lifted in the upcoming year. “Every time we open a new location, especially from scratch, we have this exciting opportunity to make improvements,” he said.
Orders for Wasabi can be placed online for any of the locations or via phone at 314.731.8080 for the Cortex location.
