5 alcohol-free cocktails to try at home
Keep Dry January going year-round with these delicious recipes from local cocktail pros.
Bird of Paradise

1 cocktail
1½ oz. BARE Zero Proof Reposado Style tequila
¾ oz. lime juice
½ oz. Abstinence Blood Orange apertif
½ oz. pineapple juice
½ oz. simple syrup
Dash of salt
Pineapple wedge, for garnish
• Combine all ingredients except pineapple wedge into a shaker, strain into a Prohibition-style cocktail glass, and garnish with pineapple wedge.

1 cocktail
1½ oz. Abstinence Cape Citrus
¾ oz. palm sugar simple syrup
½ oz. kiwi puree
½ oz. apple juice
Leitz NA sparkling riesling
Lemon twist, for garnish
• Combine all measured ingredients in a shaker. Strain into a flute. Top with sparkling riesling and garnish with a lemon twist.
Old-Fashioned

1 cocktail
2½ oz. BARE Zero Proof bourbon whiskey
½ oz. brown sugar simple syrup
4 dashes Fee Brothers aromatic bitters*
1 flamed orange peel, for garnish
1 maraschino cherry, for garnish
• Combine all ingredients except the orange peel and maraschino cherry in a rocks glass over ice. Stir and garnish with the flamed orange peel and maraschino cherry.
*Contributes a negligible amount of alcohol. There are alcohol-free bitters if desired.
Parakeet Parcel

1 cocktail
1½ oz. Ritual Zero Proof Rum Alternative
1½ oz. pineapple juice
¾ oz. Giffard Apertif Syrup
½ oz. fresh lime juice
½ oz. rich dark brown sugar simple syrup (2:1 sugar to water ratio)
Pineapple fronds, for garnish
Pineapple wedge, for garnish
Grated nutmeg (optional), for garnish
• Combine all measured ingredients in a shaker and shake hard for 10 seconds. Double strain into a rocks glass and fill with ice. Garnish with pineapple fronds, a pineapple wedge and some grated nutmeg if you are feeling fancy.

5 oz. Gruvi Dry Secco
2 oz. Lyre’s Dry London Spirit
Squeeze of fresh lime
• Combine all ingredients over ice and give it a gentle stir.
