7 beer-related events to check out in St. Louis in March

To coincide with our annual Guide to Beer issue each March, we’ve compiled a list of beer-related events happening throughout the area in the next month.

Slipping into Darkness
4 Hands Brewing Co. celebrates stout with a Slipping into Darkness festival. Sample 25 4 Hands stouts, including Chocolate Milk Stout and Madagascar, plus some options from other St. Louis breweries, along with Alma Mader Brewing in Kansas City, Surly Brewing Co. in Minneapolis, and Logboat Brewing Co. in Columbia. Peacemaker Lobster & Crab Co., Sugarfire Smoke House and De’Lish Emporium will supply the eats. Master Blaster: A Tribute to Stevie Wonder Featuring Steve Ewing of The Urge will pump the tunes. Ales for Tails STL
Sip on heady beer samples from local home brewers, and vote for your top three faves at this 21-and-up event. Shop at the Meow Market for pet-themed arts and crafts and animal-focused products. Only service animals may attend. Proceeds benefit Tenth-Life and Needy Paws, which will be on-site to provide adoption information. This event is sponsored by Instinct, The Raw Brand, and supports Tenth Life Cat Rescue & Needy Paws Dog Rescue. Tickets available online.

Stout & Oyster Festival
The second largest festival of its kind (after Boston), this bivalve “knees-up” will bring 20 professional shuckers and thousands of oysters under one tent. Entry is free, but food and drink are available for purchase. Families (and friendly pets) are welcome. Music, over the two days, includes Funky Butt Brass Band, Aaron Kamm & The One Drops and Sean Canan’s Voodoo Soul. The outdoor portion of this event only accepts credit cards, but cash is accepted inside.

Tech on Tap
This monthly networking event for St. Louis tech innovators, professionals and students is hosted by TechSTL. It takes place every second Tuesday at Urban Chestnut Brewery and Bierhall. Beer is available for purchase. Registration available online.

St. Patrick’s Day Hoppy Yoga
Bring your mat, your “max relax,” and your thirst for an all-levels yoga session with Andrea Stanley-Biss. The class will focus on balance, breath and core strengthening. Stay for a glass of green beer afterward. Wear green (as long as it’s comfy) and bring a water bottle. Tickets available online.

Beans, Bikes and Brews
Trailnet kicks off its season and rides calendar release with a beery, beany fundraiser. Learn about traffic calming demonstrations, how to fix a flat and how to help foster safe streets. Beer sponsor TBD.

BrewHop STL All Illinois Tour
Board the BrewHop bus for a four-hour tour of four Illinois breweries: Shoehorn Brewing, Millpond Brewing, Stubborn German Brewing Co. and Hopskeller Brewing Co. Each stop is about 45 minutes and includes one full pour. Tickets available online.
