Cannoli’s in Florissant will close permanently next week

Popular Florissant Italian restaurant Cannoli’s 462 N. Hwy. 67 will close permanently after service next Saturday, March 19. The restaurant has been open and family-run since 1994. “We started to do some numbers during Covid and said, ‘Well, you know, we have about 2,000 square feet more than we really need,” explained owner Thomas Freesmeier. “We were leaving thousands of dollars on the table every month.” He added that after the restaurant reopened to full capacity, they didn’t have enough staff to run it properly.

Freesmeier said he’s open to staying in the restaurant business and that he loves Florissant. “We don’t want to go too far, but we’re going to take a little break, take a little time off,” he said. “I don’t know if I’m done – I do like the industry, and if there’s an opportunity to do something with somebody else, I’d do that. We’re not saying no to anything.”

Cannoli’s will be open through next Saturday with the exclusion of Tuesday, March 15, according to Freesmeier.
