Beer festivals abound each fall, and we're here for it. Here's what's happening in September, and keep an eye on our site for another roundup of festivals happening in October.

Lieferbrau Brewery Oktoberfest

Who says Oktoberfest can’t be in September? Throw on your lederhosen and dirndls and enjoy German beer and food at the brewery this Saturday. Live music from Scattergun Jack goes from 7 to 11 p.m. Free admission.

Saint Charles Oktoberfest

Toast to tradition, music and memories at Saint Charles Oktoberfest. Not only one of the most popular Bavarian festivals in the nation, it’s also becoming one of the largest family-friendly festivals in the Midwest. Enjoy events such as the Wiener Takes All race (a wiener dog race) and a bratwurst-eating contest on Saturday, or the Mind Over Miles 5k/10k race and the Antique Car Show on Sunday. Free admission.

Old Bridgeview Brewing Oktoberfest

Old Bridgeview Brewing is hosting its second annual Oktoberfest featuring a keep-the-mug special with discounted refills, German-style beer releases and German food all weekend. German beers already on tap include Offenfest - Marzen, Put On Your Drinking Pants - Kolsch, and Fraulein Hilda - Berliner Weiss. They will be releasing their Munich Dunkel and Schwarzbier on Thursday, Sept. 28. Specialty foods include bratwurst, schnitzel sandwiches, pretzels, sauerkraut and German potato salad. Free admission. 

Urban Chestnut Brewing Co. Oktoberfest

This two-day, indoor/outdoor event consists of live music, traditional German food and delicious beer. They will be serving their Oachkatzlschwoaf Oktoberfest Lager and hosting games such as a stein-holding competition. Want to upgrade to an exclusive experience? Friendship Brewing Co. Friendtoberfest

Join the Friendship Brewing Co. team as they host their second annual Friendtoberfest. Enjoy Bavarian food specials provided by The Caboose Kitchen and live German music with The Wurst Bavarian Band at 2:30 p.m. Games include a sausage toss, stein-holding and costume competition. German beers on tap include Fest Friends, Marzen Boogie, Kölsch, Heffy Dog, Noch Mal, Hopfen Pils and Weizenbock. Free admission.
